Corpus luteum: Well, you have to get follicular cysts (egg cysts) to conceive. Then once you have become pregnant the site where you ovulated from because a corpus luteum cyst. That cyst produces the Progesterone the you need to maintain your pregnancy until your placenta takes over production around 12 weeks of pregnancy.
