Not likely normal: Er maybe! it is not normal to have the level of pain that you are describing. The discharge is oxidized blood. That is common but pain that is only from the iud placement not responsive to Dilaudid is not ok . Not knowing your responses to pain or history with pain medication use is of course very important. How did you get Dilaudid in the first place?! this is very uncommon outside a hospital.

Call your MD: You should not need Dilaudid for pain after iud insertion. Your symptoms may be associated with uterine perforation. Call your md now and go to the emergency room.
