Possibly: There are reports of families with several members with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (ipf), and having a family member with ipf may increase the risk of developing the disease. The specific genetics are unknown although several gene mutations have been identified that may play a role in the development of ipf and that may increase the risk of developing ipf.
