What is the role of a public health nutrionist?

Public health: The public health nutritionalist has as their "patient" a large population of individuals e.g. School age children, or college students or low income communities or various groups of people including general national populations. The health role includes all factors concerning nutrition and can be very broad in its definition.

Dietician specialist: Public health nutritionists are registered dieticians who coordinate and implement nutrition policies and programs for health departments. They may be involved with programs such as the special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children (wic) among others. Public health nutritionists also design and carry out programs in the community to promote nutritional health.
