Sucking Chest Wound: A hole large enough in the chest may cause air to enter the pleural space during inspiration or expiration. Air will rush into the pleural space and may collapse the lung on the affected side.

Sucking chest wound: Sucking chest wound means an wound which is allowing entry of air into pleura ( covering over lung ) during inspiration but air cannot exit out of wound, consequently can cause lungs to collapse.
