Depends on cause: 'pinched nerve' is a generic term.A nerve could truly be pinched by arthritis, herniated disc, vertebrae, etc.The term can also mean any pain, often sharp or aching, due to recurrent muscle spasm or malfunctioning vertebrae. A better diagnosis is needed to know how to help.See an osteopathic dr who can do all necessary tests, incl hands-on exam to find the cause & help permanently get rid of it.

Use a foot stool: There. Is a reason bars have a brass rail to place one's foot on while standing. This can increase the time you can stand by altering the load across your back and you can mimic this with a small foot stool or other object to place your foot on while standing. Moving about can also alter your load across your back and use of a simple back support can help as well as some stretches while at work.
