Many possible causes: Angular stomatitis or cheilitis is a common disorder with many causes including infections(fungal and bacterial), vit b2 deficiency, iron or zinc deficiency, syndromes like plummer-vinson, excess vit a intake, or from patients with dry lips with a habit of licking their lips excessively, causing chapping and cracking. Any problem lasting 8 yrs should warrant a good workup and exam.
