Heavy period : A heavy period after 3 months of absent bleeding may be normal because the amount of growth of your uterine tissue is increased. If this is the first occurrence i wouldn't be concerned. If this is rather common for yo, u you way consider bcp's to reduce the thickness of your uterine lining to decrease blood loss at your periods.
