Check out the eyedoc: Most cataract surgery is done in clinics outside of hospitals - even in private office surgical suites. The quality of the ophthalmologist is important and you can check local sources for that. Hospitals, when they do this , charge the most but most cataract surgery is covered by insurance and/or medicare. Do you really want to go to the cheapest one?

Ask around: Do not find the cheapest, find the best. Especially if you are diabetic. Most of the time it is covered by insurance, if not the prices should not vary much and you should be able to find a very good surgeon for a competitive price.
