That depends: During exercise, your heart must pump more blood to deliver enough oxygen to your muscles. The heart rate should increase or decrease again depending on the amount of work the muscles do (the intensity of exercise). If the heartbeat is irregular, not just going faster or slower, that is not normal and should be evaluated by your doctor (perhaps by a stress test).
