PVC: A hard beat could be any forceful heart beat, such as with anxiety. An isolated hard heart is usually caused bu the first normal heart beat after a PVC (premature ventricular contraction) or early heart beat which originates from the bottom chamber of the heart. The beat is hard, because the pause after an early beat gives the heart more time to fill, thus the beat is more forceful.
