What is renal osteodystrophy?

Bone disorder: In chronic kidney disease, vitamin d and calcium levels are low, causing increased parathyroid hormone (PTH) activity. Pth causes more bone breakdown and less bone formation (osteomalacia). These changes cause bones to become fragile and more likely to break, as well as bone pain (osteoporosis).
