High/Low Sodium: Hyponatremia means an individual has too little sodium in thier body. Hypernatremia means they have too much sodium in their body. Either condition can be dangerous to an individual if left untreated.

Low sodium vrs. High: This was addressed by other drs. Already. Sodium in the blood reflexes the water content in the body. Low sodium suggest too much water in the body, and high sodium suggests low water ( dehydration). Low sodium may be caused by brain or lung ailment/meds( SIADH (vasopressin) por syndrome of inappropriate anti diuretic or ADH (vasopressin) hormone function. Both may cause confusion, syncope, seizures, stroke.
