A member asked:

Does exercising your muscles during adolescence have an effect on them later in life?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Adolescence (aka puberty) begins the active hormonal period where the muscle cells respond to workouts by increasing lean muscle mass. Bone structure firms to accommodate the increased muscle strength & the adult physique becomes apparent. The window of opportunity will eventually close & those who choose a sedentary lifestyle limit the health gains lean muscle mass could give.
