Ask GI: Now MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) is otc. The original recommendation was not to use it for more that 2 weeks. There is increased risk for complications in elderly population or when mechanical obstruction has not being ruled out. Consult your gastroenterologist. Only 0.2% is absorbed. Monitor electrolytes: potassium, sodium, magnesium calcium. With prolonged use.
