Don't do it!: Pregnancy and scuba diving do not belong in the same sentence! there is no reason to place yourself and your fetus in harms way when you can safely pursue this underwater hobby after your pregnancy. Swimming, stationary bike and brisk walking (including treadmill) are appropriate exercise options for pregnant women. Don't overdo it on those either - just 30-40 minutes 3-4 times weekly is plenty!

Birth defects/: There are very few human studies involving pregnancy ; diving/ hyperbaric pressure. There are more animal studies. Reported abnormalities include: low birth weight, premature delivery, amniotic fluid bubbles, loss of pregnancy, blindness, abnormal heart anatomy, limb weakness ; deformity, fetal circulatory changes ; abnl. Skull. Decompression sickness can also impact the fetus.
