See doctor ASAP: Your wife may have contracted an infection in her ear canal and topical antibiotics can be used. Possibly she has an infection behind her eardrum and needs oral antibiotics. Severe pain and fever indicate the infection is progressing and is serious. See a doctor immediately and inform the doctor where she swam because this clue can help determine antibiotic use. Pseudomonas bacteria is common.
