It is unknown: The only intervention with a moderate amount of evidence is exercise. General priniciples for brain health include avoiding head injuries (and sports or activities associated with them), successfully managing any chronic health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure. A generalization is that if it is good for heart health, it is probably also good for your brain.

Not really: Unfortunately scientists still do not know the exact cause and how to prevent it. Even very intellectual people may get it.( i.e.Ronald reagan). Due to the plasticity of the brain we may increase the number of glial cells and connections between brain cells by exposure to new challenges and to complex issues : learning new languages, travel, learn something new, do something new & difficult for you.

No absolute way, but: A recent study sheds light on one of the most effective way to prevent dementia. See my blog at http://mdprevent.Blogspot.Com/2013/02/if-you-jump-up-and-down-after-reading.Html. Berries, wild salmon, and turmeric mixed with piperine, plus learning a new skill have also been suggested as helpful.

We don't know yet.: There is no definite way to prevent alzheimers. Exercise has the most evidence as a preventative. There is a lot of research on this so stay tuned.

Somewhat: The most important is controlling you blood pressure and cholesterol level. It is also important to have physical exercise and keep mentally fit. Some studies indicate that drinking in moderation, eating fish and dark chocolate might decrease the risk.
