Lupus vs Chloasma: Typically a malar butterfly rash on jaw and cheeks is a possible sign of a medical autoimmune condition called lupus. However darkening of skin on the face or other areas also could be melasma or chloasma which is a condition commonly seen in pregnancy due to hormonal changes. Recommend you have a rash like this evaluated by a health provider.
