Could me picking at the inside of my cheeks cause them to thicken?

Possibly: Would not recommend picking the inside of your cheeks. If your gums or mouth are irritated, you may see a dentist or ENT doc for this. Many people have a thick white "bite line" on the inside of the cheeks where the teeth meet and chronically (mildly) irritate this area. It is normal and nothing to worry about unless it enlarges, bleeds, or is very painful. See a doc especially if you use tobacco.

Yes: First, stop picking at the inside of your cheeks. And yes, constant irritation of the inside of the checks can cause the tissue to whiten and get thicker. Constant irritation of the oral tissues can also make it more susceptible to oral cancer.
