Nurse to doctor: Perhaps in the past, but these days med schools like a wide variety of backgrounds—biology, music, teaching, pharmacy, sports, etc—as long as the candidate has successfully completed required science & math courses. Having been a nurse gives you an edge in practical, clinical knowledge over your classmates in the first year or two.

Med School: Absolutely. Pursue your dream. I've always felt that nurses are more caring than doctors. You'll be an outstanding physician to have both these perspectives. Good luck!

Absolutely, YES!: Medical schools have opened the doors to "nontraditional" students. In my med school class at mcp (former women's medical), i went to school after a shor career in radiotherapy, there were a few lawyers and 2 nurses. Follow your dream and pursue your passion. You will make a great physician. Good luck!
