Tinnitus: Ear ringing is also called tinnitus, and it is common as people of any age develop hearing loss. It gets louder if the ears are more traumatized, like after a rock concert, or if you get sick with a cold. Tinnitus can be temporary when associated with infection, but otherwise it is very chronic . People with ringing should get a hearing test and an otolaryngologist's help in living with it.
