A member asked:

For a ganglion cyst removal at the base of the inside of the middle finger, can this be done in the office setting under local anesthesia?

Yes but.: It can, but i would have it done in a sterile setting if it were my finger under controlled setting, less infectious risk, more bleeding control and pain control.

Yes: Yes if your doctors office is equipped to do, many prefer ambulatory surgery centers.

Local yes, office no: I remove a majority of hand cysts under local anesthetic, but usually at the outpatient surgery center. The need for a tourniquet, other equipment or surgical assistance can make doing procedures in the office impractical. Make sure to see a board certified orthopaedic hand surgeon.
