Can a low calorie diet affect your period?

Yes: A consistently low calorie diet leading to significant and/or rapid weight loss can cause the body's hormonal balance to become disrupted. It is not uncommon for someone who is significantly underweight or who has lost weight very rapidly to experience amenorrhea, or the absence of menstruation.

Yes: When you decrease fat in the body your hormone balance can change. Usually this is due to Progesterone deficiency. Low fat also leads to low estrogen.
