No: Cholesterol is produced by and comes from animals. There are a few plants that have a similar compound to cholesterol, but it is used to treat high cholesterol, as it competes with cholesterol for absorption in the bowel. Spinach (and other dark green leafy vegetables) is high in lutein, which can lower cholesterol levels. The plant nicknamed cholesterol spinach may have higher levels of lutein.

Not true: Raw spinach has no cholesterol and has a number of health benefits. However it is easy to make it cholesterol-laden and unhealthy by adding butter, cheese, or other toppings.
