Certainly: If you don't mind the wait, emergency physicians are expert at treating all painful conditions. They may use narcotics, IV hydration, anti-nausea medications, and caffeine. If you are lucky, you'll be placed in a dark, quiet corner of the department to recover.

Some thoughts: It is not where treatment is available but where it is appropriate. Ask any doc and they think they can save the world. You break a leg & you need immediate attention. Go to the ER. You have migraines, they control your life for years. You need an ongoing relationship with a treating doc, likely a neurologist and a plan of action. Show up at an ER and you may be viewed as a drug seeker.
