A member asked:

What will a doctor do if someone with diabetes refuses to take the insulin that they need?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different in kids: Children under 18 years-old aren't considered medically-legally responsible for their own health. If a child won't take Insulin and if the parent can't or won't take control of the situation, that child is in danger. Physicians have no choice but to contact the authorities, which may lead to taking a child out of the home under such unfortunate circumstances. Thankfully, this is very uncommon.
