What kind of block?: I would say no. I would assume that you are talking about a nerve block. The appendix is not controlled by one peripheral nerve, but rather a plexus of nerves. Therefore a traditional nerve block performed for pain management would not block the appendix. One would need to undergo a spinal block to obtain complete anesthesia of the abdominal organs to prevent pain from appendicitis.
