BRONCHIAL ASTHMA: The inhaler is a bronchodilator. It relaxes the bronchial smooth muscle, decrease mast cell degranulation and histamine release.They are effective within minutes lasting x 6-8 hours.

Different types: Some inhalers are designed for "rescue". They directly effect the bronchioles to dilate. Others are cortisone types which are "controllers" . They minimize your lungs reactions to whatever triggers the attack.
