At what age does a fetus' heart start beating?

Detection limit: The sensitive ultrasound probably can see the beating heart aroud 4-5 wks, maybe a bit earlier than that in experienced hand. It is unknown as to exactly when it starts to beat/pump. It is an amazing development--it starts to beat and does not stop, at times for over 122 years (oldest person). Have fun learning about it--it is truly amazing. Good luck.
