Repair possible: Irises do not spontaneously heal. If torn in a way that the iris looks bad, or admits light in a peculiar way, surgical repair is possible to suture the edges together and make a more normal iris. Sometimes the iris loses some or all of its structure and there are now synthetic irises that can replace the natural iris.
