Have him evaluated: Chest pain in a teenager can be due to many reasons - common are costochondritis (inflammation of rib muscles), heartburn in an obese person, asthma, etc... Concerning would be chest pain with exercise in which case cardiac causes would have to be ruled out. Please see your physician based on your description.

Doctor to evaluate: Anybody who describes his symptom as "horrible chest pains" needs to be seen at the emergency room right away, meaning a trip by ambulance. "horrible" pains have a serious cause, so a doctor's exam is needed. If the cause turns out to be less worrisome, because the pains were not as horrible as first described, that would be good news. Better to be safe than sorry!
