Multiple conditions: Quadriparesis is the term that describes weakness, quadriplegia describes paralysis of all extremities. There are a number of causes in adults that include intraparenchymal hemorrhage of the ventral pons, demyelination of the ventral pons in central pontine myelinolysis, and traumatic injuries to the cervical spine. Thrombosis of the basilar artery could also produce such weakness.
