How do you diagnose neurocutaneous syndromes?

Usually by looking: Usually a good history, including family history, and exam, including a thorough inspection of the skin, are usually sufficient, though sometimes imaging (e.g. Mri) or rarely blood labs are needed to help confirm the diagnosis.

Neurocutaneous : The most common neurocutanous syndrome is neurofibromatosis, the diagnosis is made based on the number of cafe au lati (chocolate spots on the skin) along with other findings such as axillary freckling - a consultation with a neurologist would be a recommendation in this types of cases.
