A member asked:

When a doctor tells you to drink plenty of fluids, do they mean only water?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: Usually you must include salts, sodium and potassium and some source of sugar. Whether you are dehydrated or sick you have to replenish body fluids and this requires more than just water. 1/2 strength gatorade, 1/2 water and 1/2 gatorade is an excellent combination of electrolytes and water.
