Plantar fasciitis: Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar ligament that attaches the ball of your foot to the heel. It can be inflamed by overuse, injury or even wearing arch-less shoes. Your zumba activities have likely caused a flare up. Regular stretching, and icing should help. If not, see a podiatrist and consider orthoses, a night splint and even a cortisone injection.

Overuse Injury: The pain you are experiencing can be caused by the overuse of the achilles tendon relative to the plantar fascia. Also, the compression of the medial calcaneal nerve may cause compression "sharp" pain to the area. The repetitve nature of zumba and impact can have a negative effect on the heel, especially if you are not wearing the proper shoes during teaching.
