A member asked:

I have to get my esophagus dilated once a year, is there anything i can do to prevent this?

Depends...: Your answer depends on why you need dilation. If you have a peptic (acid-related) stricture, taking an acid-blocker will delay the need for re-stretching. Radiation-related strictures, schatzki rings, congenital rings, and esophageal dysmotilities are less (or not) responsive to acid blockade.
