Weight loss: Being diagnosed with metabolic syndrome does not mean you cannot lose weight. Weight loss is actually part of the treatment of metabolic syndrome so you need to pay more attention to calories and exercise and work on long-term weight loss. Good luck with this program.

Yes: Weight loss in the setting of metabolic syndrome is very possible, but requires a combination of increased activity and diet changes. Focuses on eating a health variety of lean protein (including 3 servings of fish weekly), healthy fats (limit saturated and trans fats), fresh fruits and vegetables. Restrict processed carbohydrates, refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and alcohol.
