What are orphan diseases?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No $$ in treating: These are diseases for which big pharma has or could make treatments but doesn't, because they're sufficiently rare that the companies would lose money. One of the things that i think politicians got right is requiring / giving incentives to companies to try to help these folks anyway.
