Some do some don't: While the testis generally descend & enter the scrotum in late pregnancy, some do not. We will generally watch the process until 6m-1yr before having the infant evaluated for surgery. Each case must be evaluated on its own merits.

Yes under age-1-year: About 2/3 of undescended testes at birth descend spontaneously. A non-palpable testsi in a full-term baby will never descend on its own and will require surgery. True undescended testes, not to be confused with retractile, normal testes, all need surgery to achieve a normal scrotal position.. Gliding undescended testes can appear to be descended in early childhood and only declare themselves late.
