What could be the cause of redness in corner of mouth?

Irritation: You may have a few different things. It could be an area that doesn't dry out much (licking) and may or may not have a fungal infection, possible viral lesion such as a form of herpes labalis, it could be from trauma of a split lip that just hasn't healed.
