8-9hrs is best: The pre & late teen needs rest to nurture the developing brain & reconstitute body function. 8-9 hours is this age group is best, with some needing more. Less sleep can lead too subtle decreases in job or academic performance as well as place a young driver at risk of dozing off on the road.
