Measles: Measles, or rubeola, is prevented by a vaccine given to children at about 18 months of age. German measles, or rubella, is also prevedted by a vaccine given at the same time. Its called an MMR and also includes mumps vaccine.

It's called vaccines: Vaccines for these diseases have been around for decades and are quite safe and effective when used as recommended.Today in the US ,the MMR is a combinattion vaccine that includes 3 weakened but live viruses that are administered at 1 and 4-5 years. This confers immunity in 95% after both doses. There is no way to kill the viruses if you get these diseases.
