Viral illness: Measles (rubeola) is formerly common childhood viral infection that causes a fever with cough, runny nose, red eyes and a characteristic red rash. (cough, coryza and conjunctivitis). Rare complications include pneumonia and encephalitis. The MMR vaccine prevents measles.
