Would not take both: I would not advise my patients to use these medications together. They can have significant interactions and in my opinion are not safe together.

Neither ...: xanax (alprazolam) is not used for the treatment of pain or spasm, and in general does not go well with any other medications. Perhaps rest, moist heat, gentle massage, and NSAIDs would be more helpful?
