Heart never sleeps.: Blood flow need is dictated by the needs of various organs. When you exercise, cardiac output increases 5 x. However, at rest, you are still pumping blood which constantly moves blood through your vessels-even at rest.

Arteries pump too!: The arteries are lined with muscle, which aid in the movement of blood through the body. The "pulse" one feels is the contraction of these muscles. Additionally, veins, unlike the arteries, have no muscular lining and thus do not pump blood. They move blood through the assistance of the skeletal muscles and valves found in the veins.
