What causes greed and gluttony?

My opinion only:: Greed is rooted in unwarranted selfishness. Whereas gluttony stems from extreme preoccupation with food & drink. They both share a common theme- with both greed & gluttony – satisfying one’s own needs, wants & desires takes center stage, taking the focus from others.

Human Condition: It is the human condition to feel greed and gluttony. There are medical conditions that can exacerbate these conditions but absent of significant pathology all of us can feel these emotions and desires. Both are part of the seven deadly sins. For most of us we control them on a daily basis.
