Insulin resistance: There are actually many pathophysiological phenomena that lead to the development of type 2 diabetes as it relates to overeating. Among the most important are the development of Insulin resistance in the context of obesity and changes in the health of beta cells in the pancreas that make Insulin in the context of a less than healthy diet. When Insulin resistance is high then so is blood glucose.
