Trauma,Tumors,: Commonest cause of finger fracture as one can expect is injury. Next cause is what we call in medical term is pathological fracture which is due to bone tumor or cyst weakening the bone oseoporosis also can cause weaking of the bone and may cause fractures.

Trauma: The most common cause of a broken finger is trauma or an accident. Typically, a finger will not spontaneously break. However, it is rare to have a cyst in the bone which can predispose a finger to breaking. Over 99% of the time, an accident will be responsible for a break.

Injury: When a force is applied to a bone that is greater than the strength of the bone, then a fracture occurs. With finger fractures they can occur from falls, crush injuries, traction injuries, and many other mechanisms.
