What parts of the body are impacted by multiple sclerosis?

Arms, legs, vision..: Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease that damages the central nervous system {the brain, spinal cord, and optic (eye) nerves}. Ms symptoms can be mild, such as numbness in the arms or legs, or can be severe, such as loss of vision. Symptoms can come and go, with the severity and progress of symptoms being hard to predict. Different patients can have different types of symptoms.

Symptoms relate to pathways impacted by damage to myelinated fibers, ranging from abnormalities in vision, balance, mobility, bladder, disturbed sensation, to cognitive changes. Ms can still be active at times when there is stability (remission). Mri can detect some of this change and help guide theray decisions.

Central nervous syst: MS affects brain, spinal cord, and eyes. Does not directly affect other internal organs or "spread".
